Have You Paid with Your Face?

Ask a Question

I'm not talking about anything sexually, this is like also paying with your palm or a card.

I looked it up on YouTube and it has existed for about five years now, but this feels so weird to "facepay" or "palmpay" I'll just pay with cash or my card. They say this is for "convenience" though how is it inconvenient to get your card or cash out of your wallet? It's not.

This is so bizarre.

Given that they say that everyone has a doppleganger I don't see how this would work. I certainly wouldn't use it.

tumblespots When I was a teen I remember seeing a kid who looked exactly like me. I wish my dad had stopped the car so I could have talked to him.

Then again, this is due to ancestry and genetics so it's normal there are people who look very similar.

Say, have you seen Narcos and/or the current Hulk? The actors look like twins.

PhilipMarc He could have been a relative that your dad didn't want you to meet?! 😲

There are certain actors that we confuse from time to time (not the two above though as I am not familiar with of either of them). I suppose the world is quite a small gene pool after all.

tumblespots Nope, didn't have a relative my age. After that I never saw him.

There's probably a doppelganger in Spain somewhere, too. The Spanish and Portuguese (which I am originally) share the same DNA.

Here are two actors, though you'd probably not know since they look identical.

First - Antonio Pagudo (ES)

Second - Antonio Maria (PT)

^ This comparison just confused me. I literally thought I was looking at the same woman!

Chris Sabat (US) & João Didelet (PT)

And here's another photo comparison of Mark Ruffalo (US) & Wagner Moura (BR)

There's certainly a lot of lookalikes out there, we just don't realize it.

we open phones with faces now, and they let you pay via apple/google pay. so not much diffrence. i clock in and out of work with finger print, its just the way the world is going. look at the shop in london what tracks what you bought, you dont even need to scan.

Antiwoke That is something many do. I personally don't like unlocking my phone with my face (someone could pick up your phone, put in front of you, and then it'd be unlocked).

However, I do have my two thumbs registered to unlock it.

I doubt I would use it. I don’t even like contactless especially when they upped it to £100 limit. I’m scared in case I drop my card somewhere and someone finds it. Very easy for someone to use it

TracyStorrie after being used so many times it asks for pin to be entered, even if you lost card they cant just keep spending. plus you would get your money back if reported lost.

TracyStorrie that happened to a relative of mine, someone managed to spend £80 between two shops before his wife reported it lost. The bank did refund him.

TracyStorrie normally after every 5-6 transactions you put pin in or after you spent a certain accumulative amount.

TracyStorrie Aside from that, there's also card skimmers, but there doesn't seem to be any reported cases of it happening in the U.K. (so far).

Still, it worries me when I use my card so I get the feel of it at least before swiping it.

TracyStorrie do you take cash out of the machine? That counts as using PIN number or anytime ou pay for anything over a £100 and need to use pin. If yo are concerned I would contact your bank.

Antiwoke no I never use an ATM and I have made very few purchases over £100 in the last year. It’s generally around £80 a week at Asda For shopping. I didn’t think the bank would do anything or I would have contacted them

TracyStorrie I would contact your bank for your own piece of mind, you say you don’t like the contactless feature ask if they can disable it, not sure if they can but there are cards what are not contactless and most apps now let you lock your card so you could do that and unlock before you use. You could even leave your card at home and use apple/google pay on your phone or watch instead which would be more secure.

www.lovemoney.com/news/54765/contactless-card-payment-mistakes the last point says about requesting pin after so many transactions.

Antiwoke I just don’t like it being £100. I preferred it at £40. If there were more checks for pin now and again it would be better. Like I said I have only been asked once in a year. As for Apple Pay I tried that once and someone started complaining because I took too long so never used it again. My anxiety got the better of me 😫

Didn't know getting your cash or card out of the wallet was inconvenient.

PhilipMarc no need to even take cash or card out now a days, unless your buying something at the back of the pub what’s a cash transaction.
