People Being Rude on Deals

Other

This morning I have had 2 different commenting on my activity table deal, telling me that it isn't a deal. I informed both of them that it was the larger activity table so it actually was a good deal and if they had found a better deal on it then they should share it. What annoyed me more was the fact that neither of these people have shared deals on here! Maybe it is just me, but if you don't like a deal then just scrolled past or if you don't think it's a good deal then find a better one.

I don't think they actually read the description as it clearly states it is the bigger activity table.

I know that there are people on here who do think people should comment saying something isn't a good deal, and if it isn't a good deal, then yes that's fine, but actually state where the better deal is, not just say this isn't a good deal.

I know there are people who will disagree with me on this and that's fine, it just annoyed me because they clearly hadn't looked into the deal properly.

Rant over!

Sometimes a deal is not really a deal because the type of object and what you're paying for it is too much. Sometimes there are better deals however posting it may not be something this person's time is worth.

At the end of the day, there's no need to lose your sleep over this. Don't let it ruin your day.

I tend to just scroll past the deals that aren't personally relevant to me so I don't see them as a deal, I don't comment on them. It hasn't ruined my day and I won't be losing any sleep.

MrsCraig I've had one or two but you really mustn't let it get to you. 90% of those who leave contentious comments are usually members who rarely or never post deals. It's best to tag them, thank them for their comment, and let them know you look forward to their first deal. ๐Ÿ™„

Edit - just had a look. What did I say about non-deal posters?

That was what annoyed me more actually. I had researched to make sure it was a good deal before I posted, yet they clearly knew better, despite never posting a deal themselves!

I agree, I told them if they knew of a better deal to post it themselves. This site is about trying to save people money and I felt that's what my deal was doing, especially as it's a product I've bought myself! Oh well, I will ignore them in future.

I wouldn't worry about it too much, MrsCraig, the people commenting obviously don't know what they're talking about.

I know it's annoying, but take it with a pinch of salt if you can ๐Ÿ‘

I have taken it with a pinch of salt as you advise. It was the 2nd comment saying you can get it for that price in loads of places but not offering up any links etc

If there is a better deal out there that's fine.

Thanks everyone. I'm not planning to lose any sleep over it and I was over my annoyance about 5 minutes after I wrote this post! I was more annoyed that they both said it wasn't a good deal but didn't offer a link etc to show that there was a better deal, they were just criticising for the sake of it.

I know I'm not the first it has happened to and I won't be the last, which is probably why I got annoyed and the fact that I wouldn't do it to someone else!

Ann1984 you definitely can't! I apply for freebies and they come great, if not that fine too as it is a freebie, not something I've paid for. I saw a post on insta earlier complaining that the company hadn't stated how they picked the winner of the comp and basically saying that they should have won instead of the person who did!

Hi,

As you know I post lots of deals on here.

I get negative comments sometimes too, and it can be a bit frustrating when people say it's cheaper elsewhere without providing any link or proof, such as a photo of the item and price label on the shelf in the shop.

The reason seems to be that over 90% of the time they are wrong! Or the deal they've seen no longer exists.

To be fair to the first lady who commented on your deal please note that she has previously made lots of nice comments on my deals, so I think she probably just over-looked that this is the larger activity table.

Yes, that was what annoyed me, that they didn't provide any proof for their statement.

I wasn't really having a go at her, more just at the situation in general, but I agree it is easy to overlook these things and she probably did just overlook it, desides she stated where she could get the deal from, so I was able to check it. It was the 2nd comment that annoyed me, as there was nothing to back up their answer.

Your comment had a link to somewhere else you could get it at that price, that is useful!

I'm just going to ignore them from now on.

I have noticed that those who have never contributed anything are normally the first ones to complain about other users' posts. There are plenty of deals on here which I personally dislike, but I simply choose to ignore them and keep on scrolling. It's a shame some people feel the need to be rude.

I am all for free speech, but within reason. Everything has its limits. x

I like it when people find fault with my deals. In the past on hotukdeals I remember putting what I thought was a good deal but someone wrote that they actually found a site that was clearing out the same product at a very low price, about half the price of my deal. This was good because I'd actually ordered the product myself so cancelled the order and bought from the cheaper supplier. However I think the cheaper supplier only had a limited supply to clear and I bought the lot so my deal was still relevant. It was packing tape and kept me going in tape for sometime. Recently on latest deals I criticised a cycle computer deal that claimed was reduced from ยฃ30 to ยฃ7 but the same item is available for ยฃ3.50 sent from China on ebay, if you are prepared to wait a couple of weeks its a big saving. I find because of the points system on latestdeals people are keen to post deals which aren't always the best deal so if the deal is very bad I feel like I need to point out the better deal but I won't do that normally for supermarket deals only more expensive items where the price difference can be quite large.

You aren't supposed to mention other deal sites on here.

Also I don't mind someone pointing out that you can get a better deal somewhere else, if they actually post the link, mention the website etc, but that's not what happened.

I checked first to make sure that it was a good deal and I couldn't find it cheaper elsewhere, maybe the same price but not cheaper. I don't post things because of the points, they are just an added bonus.

MrsCraig I didn't know that, I've had no problem mentioning latestdeals on that particular site and thought it was ok they other way around too. They really should automatically asterix it if they don't want that other site mentioned.

kane122 You really shouldn't put up with those sorts of comments. One polite comment is fine but when your deals are being loaded down with these diatribes then the offender should be reported. We have all been locked down for too long but there is no need for some of the evident sanctimony happening here.

I don't particularly care, as long as the person makes the comment with respect. The comment system exists exactly so that people can interact about the Deal and not just copy & paste a Thank you!

I remember commenting in the post you are describing here, some people just do not understand that there may be different models and brands of the same product, different quality, etc., and that prices may vary. They then comment that things like "I saw an activity table like this at ALDI for just ยฃ10.99", without understanding that the VTech activity table, or a Lego for example, costs much more than generic brands.

Ziad4321 report it to the admins via the contact us form. That's the only way it can be documented and dealt with and best to mute the person or expire the deal so they can't comment.

If the admins have muted them then they have acted on your complaint.

Ziad4321 You aren't telling the whole story are you ? Would you like me to ? as you appear to have selective amnesia .

I criticised one deal weeks ago ( a totally useless Chinese Chinese infra red thermometer ) , We all know how cheap and unreliable they are ! Job done I thought .

Perhaps not - over the following 2 weeks Ziad4321 trolled me in excess of 120 times going back through my historic deals to criticise them and leave meaningless comparisons and insults .

What Ziad 4321 does not realise is that all the 120+ examples of trolling are there to see on my account , and obviously visible to Admin.

Yes I told him I'd report him if he didn't desist and yes I believe he has issues .

What would you have done being trolled 10 -15 times a day on months old deals ? I thought I was quite restrained .

Now Ziad4321 maybe you would like to complete your story by explaining why you trolled over 100 of my historic deals ? I did ask you politely before and you just carried on finding even older historic deals (even expired ones ! ) to troll !

Out of kindness I did not report you - I just started ignoring you a week ago (since when the trolling has dropped to 2 or 3 a day ) - but you have now in effect reported yourself and remember the evidence is all in the sites records .

I remember a post wanting a voting system on deals and I can't remember who, but an admin said they would prefer that people comment on the deal to say if they don't think it is a deal so this is what they were wanting people to do.

I haven't commented on any but stating something isn't a deal isn't being rude as such, although I have no clue what they said exactly.
