The answer is yes, but only baby shampoo
Human skin has a normal pH balance of 5.5-5.6, which is on the acidic side. Dogs, on the other hand, have a normal pH balance of 6.2-7.4, which is more neutral. Using a human shampoo on dogs disrupts the acid mantle, leaving your dog vulnerable to parasites,
The only human shampoo recommended for dogs is baby shampoo

Its a blatant rip off, taking advantage of dog owners
And i am not conviced certain brands do the job
For me a baby shampoo is a good alternative , it has the right PH, has been extensively tested for babies , and i would trust using it on my dog
Besides that we had a friend who is a vet confirm its a good alternative

We use baby shampoo if one of ours (usually Maisie) decides to use fox poo as her perfume of the day 
I use baby shampoo on our dog. I didn’t know that normal shampoo may not suit her skin, we have just used baby shampoo so it wouldn’t irritate her eyes.

It's similar with cats, only can use baby shampoo which considering you can hardly find cat ones is the only option a lot of the time.

I would always use the proper Dog shampoo as it helps to prevent fleas, is good for their coat and skin and smelly lovely and to be honest if you buy it from Homebargains or the like it's not really anymore expensive than a normal shampoo.
True M, but some people have pets that may be allergic to dog shampoo and are looking for an alternative
Also you dont need to buy a shampoo with built in flea prevention if you are already giving flea drops or tablets , you might be overdosing your pet with too much
And just using a shampoo with flea prevention alone will not prevent infestation
They do Dog shampoo for skin conditions and allergies if your dog has a skin condition. Regards of fleas there is no way you could overdose the dog by using a shampoo , and although it doesn't prevent fleas it;'s an aid to deterring fleas and bugs . Although Baby Shampoo is mild enough to use on a Dog it's not recommended due to the fact that humans’ pH level is relatively higher than a dog’s, baby shampoos can have a huge impact on drying out your dog’s skin.
M, the chemicals in the shampoo added to anti flea treatments you may already be giving your dog could cause a reaction , thats why there is a recommended dosage
Baby shampoo has a lower PH than other shampoos so cannot harm your pet

Don't believe everything you read on the internet , try asking your local Vet. If you were a true animal lover you would just invest in the proper product .

M, as i said twice before , some dogs are allergic to normal dog shampoos, certain breeds have sensitive skin and normal shampoos can irritate their eyes
Dont take my word for it , speak to a vet yourself , other members find the same , see Gs post from earlier

Exactly why baby shampoo is ok , it has a lower ph closer to a dogs

Dont see why not, ive used baby shampoo before on my dogs and theyve had no reaction to it and does the job
we used baby shampoo on all of our dogs .... because dog shampoo so dear .... obviously ...using common sense over thorough rinsing and keeping out of eyes.
