Vacuum Cleaner Recommendations?
Ask a Question
Looking for some recommendation on vacuum cleaners for original wooden floor and stone slats!
It's a new house for me and ours has blown up!
Any help would be highly appreciated
I would NOT recommend a Henry, Hoover or Vax! Dyson's tend to not got to the edges even though they reckon they do. Miele pull alongs are good and so is a Shark. I am a domestic cleaner and use a vast array of vacuums
Dennab The only Bertie I have is my dog What's wrong with Henry? I can only liken it to having help hoovering from a drunken little idiot, he falls over ALL the time, the pipe pops apart so much so it ends up being held together with sheer willpower and duct tape, and don't even get me started on the suction! Pardon the pun, but Henry's suck
rls I have a Henrietta & have to agree with you on the constant falling over.
rls I had one 30 odd years ago and had all those problems. Vividly remember taping the hose to machine.
I recommend my gtech ram, not maybe for professional cleaning but brilliant for my home.
I nearly fell down stairs twice struggling with the heavy Dyson but use just one hand with the gtech. Suction and charge and manageability is great too.
I was recommended by a professional cleaner to get a Henry or Shark. Got a Shark for the pet hair feature but the annoying thing about it is it's a separate attachment which you can't possibly use for an entire house. So still get hair stuck in the main brush. It has a hard floor mode though that you'll find useful.
Miele without a doubt. Mine has just died and it was 13 years old and in fairness my other half deciding to hoover the warm ash out of the woodburner and basically setting it on fire likely contributed to the death of it!
They aren't cheap and they do need bags (or rather the c3 we had did) but they will last forever (as long as you don't set it on fire)
I had a lovely wooden floor in my last house and Henry always cleaned it to perfection! We have always found Henry to be a long lasting vacuum cleaner.
Henry's are brilliant vacuums, very reliable and strong, good general purpose vacuums for home, workshop, garage, car etc but if you have a model without a powered brushbar they won't be great for carpets especially deep carpets and personally I wouldn't use a vacuum cleaner that requires bags because of ongoing costs. Over 10 years lets say of ownership the cost of bags is significant and just don't see the point when decent bagless vacuum cleaners are available.
As ever always worth looking for refurbished vacuums on ebay or customer returns on amazon warehouse whichever vacuum you are going for.
BonzoBanana We do also have a new bagless, cordless thingy. I find it quite heavy and can't even get it off the wall so weight is another issue to consider when making a purchase. I have no problem changing the bag from time to time and Henry will follow me anywhere. "He ain't complainin'"
Hey just a heads-up, you may not know we have a special page just for vacuum cleaner deals. Might help give you some ideas?
Im so annoyed with my hoovers, i guess it would be faster to sweep with good brush. I keep reading that Shark and Miele are the best. I want new REALLY POWERFULL HOOVER. What wattage should I look for please? 2000W? Is there any higher than that? Thanks
Anyone used the Shark with the "anti hair wrap"?
Does it actually work?, as it sounds so unlikely.
The bane of my life is the wind round of my long hair on the beater brush, and l have to actually dismantle my hoover to get it all out.
I hate hoovering......
We have wooden floors and stone tiles in the kitchen and bathroom. We have a shark and I would highly recommend! It is a hard wood floor setting too which is really useful.
I love my shark vacuum. I had a Dyson before. Was good but the shark has a allergin filter which helps with my daughters dust allergy
I've always been loyal to Dyson and they seemed to be the most efficient but last year I swapped to a Shark and would never go back. It's easy to use on hard floor and carpets and it makes the Dyson feel like a tank.
