What's Cooking Today Guys and Gals?
Other
I have had several days with no work this week so I decided to make today cooking day.
I have just made a huge wok full of chicken curry, a large dish of bombay potatoes and with shop bought pastry I have made some apple puffs with fresh cream.
Anyone else practising for Masterchef today?
Lots of food tastes better next day, curry, stew etc and I think that looks good enough to eat lol!
RegularComper90 Haha all gone sorry, got a date with a packet of sausages tonight.
Ah most of my days are like that, no dog though, but today was an exception. I felt it was time I did a batch cook and I do love curry.
Quick and easy supper for me tonight. Fresh haddock from yesterday’s market done in ruskoline. Was a perfect treat
heatherduthie I see, nice crispy coating, probably healthier than batter, did you have chips lol?
Lynibis no just the fish. Normally I would have it with chips and peas but wasn’t very hungry last night so just had the fish on its own
I did a Cajun Chicken type thing, on a bed of salad and shavings of Courgette.
It wasn't worth the effort Wish I'd gone for your Curry Lynibis
Oh bad luck blacklabrador, I must admit I eat salad on sufferance knowing it is meant to be good for me. But I really do not like courgettes lol.
Lynibis Nope, the courgettes bought nothing to the party, it was only the fact I was gifted them from a relatives allotment that I felt obliged.
Now you're talking! I had something similar last week, pulled beef in burger bun with fries. Trouble is I always feel guilty after a naughty dinner.
Found a new recipe recently, could be old to others. It’s called Tex mex and basically cooking mince meat, adding garlic, chilli, onions and tin of tomatoes. Then adding macaroni with water, boil it all up. Put it in a dish, top with cheese and bake.
eyeballkerry Sounds pretty good to me, I knew that this type of filling went in tacos but I would have to get my head round pasta with chilli as I would generally have rice with it.
I am not a fan of lamb unless it is very lean and tender. I guess cooking it in a tagine would ensure it's tenderness and I am sure I would like it.
It's a Spanish style chicken for me tonight. I use boneless chicken thighs, spicy chorizo, onions, mushrooms, peppers, garlic, sweet paprika layered on top of potato slices. All in one dish with minimum clean-up.
Oooh that sounds good. I have only recently come to appreciate chorizo as I have used it in a paella recipe in my dairy book of home cookery!
Judging from this thread it seems LD members are good at cooking proper meals rather than buying MacDonalds or a ding meal (microwave).
Cooked MrsChimp chicken in a creamy mushroom sauce and I must say, it wasn't very good.
It's not often I have such a failure, but this was one of them.
Strangely, it seems to me, that the ones you think will be yummy often aren't, but the ones the family are not really looking forward to turn out best.
Another day, another dinner. Managed to find a nice piece of reduced organic beef in Waitrose so that will go with all the trimmings and homemade yorkshire puddings.
It's a lighter meal this evening - Chicken Piccata, lemon/juice, garlic, capers and parsley. I haven't decided what to serve with it yet. (boiled potatoes, flavoured pasta or salad)
Tonight I'm cooking a large roast chicken I picked up in Morrisons for £1.25 and the piece of salmon that I took out the freezer, a previous yellow sticker. We'll eat either and have the other tomorrow.
Good thinking, I am doing myself a little roast with just a chicken breast at this very moment!
No cooking tonight. Friday is takeaway curry night in our house. Hot and spicy of course, and with nice succulent pieces of chicken.
Lynibis I am very disappointed with you.

Ooooops, in my defence m'lud I put it down to age.....I rest my case, I got 6 hamsters to feed so please don't send me down!!!
Very nice. I am looking forward to my first meal out but circumstances have not been helpful so far. Plenty of them coming up in next couple of months though.
MrsChimp is working until 9pm today, so no real cooking today because it'll be too late.
I'm hoping that she'll bring me back some butcher's faggots for a nice snack
I am behaving badly today as I had cold potatoes from last night, sliced and fried with a couple of fried eggs for brunch. I currently have a Victoria sponge cooking as I had cream that needed using. I shall eat a huge slice and hand rest to neighbours! Then tonight I am having some of the curry and Bombay potatoes I made last week and mentioned in opening topic.
I hope you get your faggots but you will forgive me if I don't want to join you lol.
