LABOUR OF LOVE

The Wrendale story begins around a crowded kitchen table in Melton Ross, Lincolnshire, where Hannah decided to return to her artistic roots after working for five years as a stockbroker in London. She had studied art at school before reading zoology at university, and was eager to revisit the skills she had learned.

Taking inspiration from the glorious Lincolnshire countryside, Hannah turned her hand to sewing before reuniting with the paintbrush to create a range of pieces inspired by the natural world. Painting hares at first – with wonderfully expressive faces – she soon expanded her repertoire to include foxes, pheasants, geese, dogs and hens.

FAMILY BUSINESS

Hannah quickly established her own style, and found that her British wildlife-inspired work was proving increasingly popular. Following her initial success she began producing greeting cards, and the company has been growing ever since. Hannah’s husband Jack, a former farmer, now runs the business with a small, dedicated team employed to process orders, answer phones and pack deliveries.

Wrendale Designs supplies giftware across the UK and exports all over the world. The company also works in collaboration with Portmeirion to produce a range of ceramic, textile and melamine items, and its stationery, tinware and soft furnishings collections are continuing to grow.
