Each winner will receive a bundle of Tropical Sun products including their award-winning Jamaican Jerk Seasoning paste, which is made by hand using a traditional recipe in Central Village, Spanish Town, and their Jerk BBQ sauce which doubles up as the ultimate sunshine sauce and a jerk marinade ingredient. To sweeten the pot further each winner will get their hands on a traditional drum BBQ with a lid to keep those smoky flavours locked in.

Did you know that the BBQ we all know and love originated in the Caribbean? The word barbeque derives from the Arawak word barbaca which evolved into babacoa to describe the unique way the Taíno people would cook meat. They were the first people to cook on a ‘grill’ - made from a raised wooden grate placed over a fire pit.

Boston Bay in Portland, Jamaica is credited as the original birthplace of jerk cuisine. The area, just west of Port Antonio, is still home to the original jerk pits which eventually became the Boston Jerk Centre.
