Overview
The Llawnroc Hotel is a contemporary property on the south coast of Cornwall. It is on the Roseland Heritage Coast -- an area that is known for its "intimate wooded valleys, medieval field patterns and chamfered cliffs leading down to hidden coves" (The Daily Telegraph).
The hotel is in Gorran Haven -- a quaint village with whitewashed cottages and a working harbour -- and is a couple of minutes' walk from two sandy beaches and the South West Coast Path. It is also around 10 minutes' drive from the pretty port of Mevagissey and the Lost Gardens of Heligan, which showcases "amazing experiments in horticulture and landscape design" (The Daily Telegraph) and was only rediscovered in 1990. The iconic tropical biomes of the Eden Project are 30 minutes' drive away.
Gwineas Bar & Bistro has recently appointed Simon Davies as head chef, previously head chef at Nathan Outlaw's Fish Kitchen when it won a Michelin star. The restaurant offers a real taste of Cornwall, with local produce including Cornish strawberries, local asparagus, scallops from Mevagissey, and freshly landed hake from Looe.
The bistro occupies the site of an old inn, and the bar shows live sports with local ales on tap, as well as wines, lagers and cocktails. You can dine out on the terrace in good weather.
There are 18 individually decorated bedrooms, some with sea views and others with balconies. Wi-Fi is free.
