How can I access an airport lounge for cheap?
If you're traveling with a long stop on the way, it can be nice to rest in a VIP or executive lounge.
These are special, closed off lounges usually with showers, beverages, light food, WiFi and other amenities.
Quieter areas with comfortable seats, perhaps with a view over the runway, that isn't crowded or forcing you to lie on cold hard floors.
However, VIP airport lounges often cost a lot. Here's how you can get an airport lounge discount.
There are various membership schemes, such as Priority Pass which brings the price down, but these only work if you travel a lot (i.e. if you plan to use an executive lounge three or more times a year).
If you're looking for a one off trip, here's the cheapest way to do it:
- Pre-book with Sleeping Airports
Sleeping Airports is a website which lets you book access to a VIP lounge from 250 airports around the world (all the big ones).
Unlike other services, there's no membership fee. You can book it just once, and it works out cheaper than booking it on the day at the airport.
Prices start at just £13.50, but the average seems to be about £25.
The VIP lounge at Hong Kong
The Executive lounge at Singapore Airport which costs £22 and includes complimentary beverages, WiFi, showers and WiFi
Wow thanks tom, i travel 3-4 times a year and didn't bother with lounges as too expensive but looking forward to trying them now
Highly recommend starting your holiday this way. The lounge at Birmingham Airport offers alcohol, hot food, snacks, hot drinks, cold drinks, newspapers and magazines in the price of entry. With comfy sofas and a chillled atmosphere it's well worth the money.
