Set in the year 2029, Mankind Divided picks up directly after the disaster known as the Aug Incident, when an unexpected terrorist attack forced the augmented population to turn violent against their will as they lost complete control of their bodies and minds. The disaster resulted in the deaths of millions of innocent people across the globe and subsequently resulted in the complete segregation of the Aug population as they were deemed dangerous and unfavourable by their human kin. Now they live in slums, hated by ordinary humans.
