This is an excellent price for an infra red thermometer. I will definitely get one of these. Thank you very much for sharing.
I've seen videos of similar looking ones that literally had nothing inside apart from a screen and just displayed at random temperatures around 36.6
Found the link so if anyone buys a thermometer like this, you gotta check it on surfaces with differing temperatures (like inside the fridge and inside a heated up oven, for example) and if it does not measure adequately, return it.
Similar seems to be happening with regular body thermometers nowadays, to the point I decided not to buy one for a friend and just lend him one of mine that were bought long before and work correctly.
cookiewithcarro Wasn't aware of this myself, but thanks for pointing it out, have decided to pass on this deal also
cookiewithcarro when you buy the proper ones though there's different ones for that, humans and ovens don't use the same type x
cookiewithcarro I was going to buy one of these, your video has put me off, Thanks for sharing this.
I know they don't, the point is to test the one you buy on extreme temperatures that you yourself know are not around the 36.6°C of human body. If the thermometer has a range from 0-50 Celsius, measuring a hot oven should show the 50 as maximum. JoTarpley
martinlufc5637 don't bother unless you absolutely need it, ask family/neighbours if they can lend you a good one when you do feel the need to check. Im hoping it will soon pass, just like with the poor quality/uncertified face masks. Chinese suppliers are scrambling together to make some money back and they are good at manipulatinh around to get their profit margins - worked with many suppliers in China and India and I know even the good ones aren't always reliable.
Reminds me a bit about the Chernobyl HBO show where they measured the radioactivity and it only showed 3.6 and they said "oh it's fine, not too bad" but in fact 3.6 was the maximum their measuring device could handle. Couple days later they eventually brought a stro her measuring device from Moscow and it maxed out as well, so strong was the radiation. The show was both dreadful and ridiculous at the same time.
cookiewithcarro Yes I know, I just had visions of melting plastic with people putting this useless bit of kit in hot ovens x
Well, it's infrared so that should not be necessary but I see your point JoTarpley
This is pretty cool, iv saw these in boots before but they were a fortune. Thanks for sharing
No the Boots ones are certified accurate , this is Chinese Tat ! Sometimes I despair of LD members !
I suppose with boots you have some sort of warranty/insurance that it will work or get your money back.. With amazon external sellers - not always. JoTarpley
cookiewithcarro Well yes you do, don't you cookiewithcarro , I know you're covered to a certain extent with paypal on ebay and Customer Service on Amazon who seem to fairly refund but sometimes you need more than just the refund because you've got all the hassle of starting again for one thing and also there are soooo many rogue sellers creeping in nowadays! x
marty66 Well as you are totally misinformed (Boots certainly do NOT sell these ) I thought I'd help you out .
Just because they are IR thermometers it certainly doesn't mean they are the same . Please ... surely you know that ?
I've recently had a problem with getting a refund from amazon
for an item bought through an external seller - silly phone case from China (but a bit over £10 including shipping, a specific item i wanted that wasn't available in other non-china places) and several attempts contacting amazon CS, they kept telling me its an external seller and they can't help me... Eventually read up and said I want a refund under the a-z guarantee and finally got the refund, but it was several chats in total. JoTarpley
It's possible that boots have a very similar-looking thermometers, I explained yesterday how factories copy popular items and sell on amazon/eBay or put random brand names on them. Golfforall
Golfforall I forgot until you mentioned it, I had exactly the same last year, it was only a low cost item but that was beside the point, and they wouldn't accepted my feedback for them being a bad seller either when I saw later the same had been left by others, so I wasn't impressed with that one all round!! x
No dangerous to have at home ! These Chinese Tat thermometers are wildly inaccurate - read the reviews !
Delivery is a little longer on this at August 8th-14th but good price if you don't mind the wait.
Great price for a infra red thermometer ive seen these priced very high thanks for sharing this
If you are indeed a nurse you must know that this is Chinese Tat , wildly inaccurate and of no medical use whatsoever -in fact dangerous to rely on .
Golfforall What my profession is has nothing to do with it, neither did I say I was buying it . I was being polite and I leave everyone else to make their own minds up as they are adults
nicenurse21 " its still a good deal " - your words ! - sorry it isn't , its dangerous should anyone be foolish enough to rely on one of these !
Tbh we all know this is a standard comment format to get 20 points, we're here for the cash. Golfforall
I think this is a great item to have at the moment. I have an old fashioned put in the mouth one, but I think this is an improvement.
Stick with the one you have . These cheap chinese ones are wildly inaccurate and totally unreliable !
I personally wouldn't trust something as cheap as this to be even the slightest bit accurate.
I'd rather pay a bit more for a reputable brand that I know will give me an accurate reading, especially for my baby!
I agree mommytofreya , I really want one of these at a decent price but I haven't been convinced yet, I've seen so many bad reports of them not being accurate, I really don't want to waste my money! x
JoTarpley Once again LD members are out in force "liking " useless chinese Tat !
You need a medical thermometer to be accurate and these are certainly not ! Sometimes I despair of LD members !
Golfforall Me too!! I couldn't believe it when I saw the 'likes' on this one, OMG this virus is literally a killer, don't people realise how important it is to get accurate readings, OBVIOUSLY NOT, they stand outside in groups like it's sale time and buy this rubbish, the next thing they'll do is moan that they are ill, IDIOTS! x
JoTarpley Sadly this isn't the first time . Every time one of these cheap Chinese Thermometers is posted it gets loads of likes ! Ridiculous when will LD members educate themselves !
I have one (bought as a DIY tool for finding sludge in my radiators ) ie finds the cooler parts of the radiator - it just about does that . Point it at my forehead reads 33.2 C so I'm long dead !
Please Late Deal sheep stick with your old fashioned £5 thermometer - a certified for clinical use accurate IR one will cost you £50+ from a trusted seller , these are just plain dangerous !
This is plainly an example of why we should have a "don't like" option on the site as I'm sure the majority of members aren't daft enough to think this "Tat " has any use at all .
GolfforallHave you noticed how many look the same too, they just have different brand names, I actually looked one up a while back, when I was ultra seriously looking and it didn't exist, funny that! x
JoTarpley I'm just hoping that most of the 'likes' on this are just members collecting their daily points and not actually buying the tat .. I don't get why someone would potentially put their child at risk all for the sake of saving a few quid.
mommytofreya I think it's just the points for the 'likes' otherwise it's very scarey!! A lot of LD members just click on 'Trending' or one with high 'Likes' and I bet they couldn't even tell you what the deal was for afterwards, as they took absolutely no notice whatsoever!! There are very few that actually click back through the pages and so many do the minimum 'Likes' so soooo many deals go unnoticed, I often click on extra ones because it seems so unfair!!
I remember actually thanking a member for liking one of my deals a few weeks back because she had obviously gone back to the start of the days deal postings to actually find it, I was shocked that she did it and she was shocked when I pointed out that that wasn't the norm!! x
I suggest you return straight away - A thermometer is useless when wildly inaccurate . I would have thought every one knows that ! These Chinese thermometers are useless - read the reviews before wasting your money !
THE SAFEST THING TO DO IS TO STOP MEMBERS POSTING ANY DEAL TO DO WITH THESE THERMOMETERS LDs BUT WILL YOU LISTEN???
