Ideal for most rough ground or under paving, this Jardin Heavy Duty Weed Control Fabric inhibits weed growth, but still allows water and nutrients to penetrate the soil. There are printed lines for uniformed planting and it is made from 70 GSM polypropylene.

  1. Make sure the area to be covered is free of weeds. Preferably by using a systemic weed killer, then rake the soil for a smooth surface.
  2. Unroll the fabric and cut to required size.
  3. Either place fabric around plants or cut slits to fit over plant. When planting seeds or a new plant, cut crosses through the fabric.
  4. Use the lines on the fabric as a guide for uniformed planting.
  5. Once material is in place, cover with chipped bark or compost 50mm (2") deep.
  6. For use underneath existing trees, bushes and hedges. Cut to appropriate shape.

Dont forget mulch is also a great way to stop I use grass cuttings and leaf mould. You could use cardboard as well and cut holes through. The cardboard will rot and give soil carbon. This picture I applied leaf mould late last year growing carrots, spring onions, radish and pink celery Image

Good price is it's the woven plastic type to make it last longer if I use plastic pegs to anchor it down or cut the material I always cut with a hot metal item like a tent peg, it stops it frayling. I use this stuff on allotment and lasts years. I grow things using it Image and Image

Built this path the other day (it was grass before) with this and used Morrisons slat chippings. I anchored the membrane Image with plastic pegs that you get for membrane Image

NatalyKroxa It always best to use something hot when you cut. I use a small camp stove and heat around 3 metal pegs just the tips and then run it along the edge to cut it seals the edges. Dont like wasting plastic, so try and get many years of usage. I use this stuff every year and reuse it, it keeps weeds down and saves time. I would get lots of weeds otherwise due to abandoned allotments nearby. People think its easy having an allotment it can be if done right worse thing is not clearing an abandoned plot it's maintaining it

Brilliant price! Will definitely check the thickness and follow Chris101 tips! Never thought about ensuring hot to cut, but makes sense!
