Giving a Stronger Start to children in local communities
We all know that children need healthy food and exercise to build a strong foundation for life. Yet almost half of UK parents worry that their children won’t reach their potential because they don’t have enough access to healthy meals and opportunities to get active.
At Tesco, we believe we can help change that.
What Stands in the Way?
There are clear opportunities to make a difference. Today, almost 8 out of 10 schools are drawing from their limited budgets to provide food for pupils. And many schools struggle to afford the vital sport equipment and fitness programmes children need to maintain a healthy lifestyle. We must try to change this.
Introducing: Stronger Starts
To help children have a stronger start in life, we partnered with Groundwork to create a new £5.3m grant programme called Stronger Starts. Our goal? To give 1 million children a Stronger Start by helping fund healthy food and fitness activities that can improve their physical health and mental wellbeing - from breakfast clubs to playground equipment, football kits to gardening classes.
