NHS Contraception Service
The NHS Contraception Service is a free NHS service that helps eligible people to receive a repeat supply of previously prescribed oral contraception from a community pharmacy without the need for a GP appointment in England.
This will require a consultation with the Pharmacist, where they will ask you a series of questions and may take your Blood pressure and BMI to support their clinical decisions.
If it is suitable, the Pharmacist can provide you with the same oral contraception that you have received previously from our GP surgery or Sexual Health Clinic.
They cannot currently change your pill to something else, so if you need support with that you should contact your GP surgery or Sexual Health Clinic in the usual way.
You will be asked for consent to share the information with your GP but if you would prefer we don't do this, just let the Pharmacist know.
This service is completely confidential and no information from the consultation is shared without your consent.
Before your oral contraception consultation
Please make sure you bring provide proof of the medication being previously prescribed by your GP or sexual health clinic. You can bring a recent repeat slip of your medication or if you don't have this to hand, you can give consent for the pharmacist to access your Summary Care Records.
We send our newsletter once a day with the very best deals, vouchers and freebies shared by our community. Make sure you don't miss all that lovely free stuff!
