So do you need to show the email as that you should have received as proof or just the say the phrase? as I their was a freebie in superdrug and you should have received and email but I didn't and was told that was fine but on my arrival I was asked for the email as proof and looked like a bit of a fool and redfaced 
As far as I am aware you just need to say the phrase - I've seen a few people saying they had the same offer last year too, no mention of having to show any emails. Guessing you could sign up for their newsletter via their website and see if you receive the same email (which is were my email came from!)? Hope it works and that you enjoy your pancakes!!!
