Bringing a kitten home is an exciting moment – for both you and your new pet! Before you bring your tiny bundle of fur home though, it's a great idea to get to know as much as you can about taking care of them. While you’re sure to want to spend the first few weeks playing, cuddling and spending time together, it’s even more important to make sure that your kitten is getting all the care they need to grow into adulthood.
Your kitten's needs
Like with most animals, kittens have unique needs and your little pet will most likely need special care as they’re growing. While it’s usually best for your kitten to spend the first twelve weeks with their mum if it’s possible, you’ll need to take over that role when you bring them home! At this point, they’ll look to you to give them healthy, tasty food that’s full of the nutrients they need to grow up. They’ll need you to look after their grooming and, as well as being their fun playmate, they’ll rely on you to keep them safe, healthy and cared for.
To help get you started, we’ve put together lots of helpful advice on caring for your kitten in this section. From choosing the right food for your little pet to teaching them to use a litter tray, we’re here to help you to give your feline friend the very best start in life possible.
