Mobdro - Free Live Stream Channels (Android)
This app used to be available directly on the Play Store but appears it has been removed. Mobdro kind of falls into the gray area section of apps as this offers live streams of channels and movies for free, sorta like Kodi and others.
If you're ever bored out and just want to watch, let's say, Westerners (Cowboys) movies then there's a dedicated channel that airs movies of that genre all day, every day.

The Western 24h movie channel is probably my favorite, it's the one I always pop on. 
I love your comment about 'grey area'. There's no grey about it. Any viewing in the UK of subscription based content without paying for said subscription is illegal. Checkout the IPO information page for further advice. ;)

Unlikely they will take it further if its for personal use, but my advice would be, if you are going to do it, get a VPN.

It is illegal but this also offers YouTube-like streamings which are legal. Plus, there are freeview-type channels accessible by a satellite dish though in this case it's not necessary.
The UK govt forces people to pay for a scammy TV License so one has to be skeptical of them.
