Family Fund is the UK’s largest charity providing grants for families raising disabled or seriously ill children and young people. Last year, we provided over 150,000 grants or services worth over £48 million to families across the UK.
Our purpose is to improve the lives of low-income families raising disabled or seriously ill children and young people.
Our mission is to provide items and services to all low-income families in the UK raising disabled or seriously ill children, that they could not otherwise afford or access, and that help improve their quality of life, realise their rights, and remove some of the barriers they face.
Our vision is that all families raising disabled or seriously ill children have the same choices, quality of life, opportunities and aspirations as other families.
We provide grants for a wide range of items, such as washing machines, sensory toys, family breaks, bedding, tablets, furniture, outdoor play equipment, clothing and computers. It can be a struggle financially, emotionally and physically for families raising a disabled or seriously ill child, and these grants help break down many of the barriers families face, improving their quality of life and easing the additional daily pressures.
stuartsmith544 That's what I hope Stuart, freebies aren't all about free samples, I really hope it helps someone or they can pass it on to someone who really needs help, even if they don't bother to say thanks x
JoTarpley Well I will say thanks and I have forwarded it to a friend whose child is disabled . Really appreciate you taking the time to find it and then sharing it . Hows your brother in law doing ?
stuartsmith544 Stuart!
Aww thanks for asking. BIL was moved to another hospital about a week ago, only visiting once a week, 2nd visit yesterday, just driving out the village past the farm to go and see him, about a 25 minute drive each way, and there was the loudest noise you could imagine, my heart leapt into my mouth, a branch had broken off a tree and landed on the roof of the car, missing the windscreen by a fraction, with a near head on miss last week and the tree this week I'm thinking somebody's trying to tell me something driving to this * hospital !
How are you getting on anyway Stuart, are you sorted with your Doctors visits now with less hassle, are the wife and kids ok? x
JoTarpley The doctors never change but fingers crossed I'm a little better than I was . Our eldest left Saturday to go America for 3 months working in a summer camp. There was loads of tears especially from Mandy and a few from Steven . He's there now and were so proud of him . Jacks less than 2 weeks away from finishing his exams .Seriously hope your BIL gets better and somehow life comes back to normal .
stuartsmith544 I'm glad you are a tiny bit better, let's hope that carries on! It must be hard seeing your babies grow up but what an amazing opportunity for Steven and Jack's nearly got his life back after all that study, fingers crossed for good results there , 2 happy kids eh, I expect an update on that though Stuart x
I wish we had this amazing support 15+ years ago. My parents really struggled raising me, seriously ill in a wheelchair on chemotherapy my whole childhood and it nearly killed them. These grants are vital to support parents raising seriously ill children. It gives comfort knowing that there are charities offering this lifesaving support.
I got a brand new apple tablet worth £450 off these for my 5 year old son who is autistic. They didnt send me the money for it instead they emailed me with a few different options, starting with a pretty crappy Samsung tablet upto the one that I asked for, within 3 days it was delivered straight to me.
The initial application was a bit of a pain, cos they ask you the same questions, online and then they ring you to get alot of information and end up repeating the questions but worded slightly different, dunno if it's deliberate to try catch ppl out or if they just like to repeat themselves lol.
MickyStoker I'm really pleased you got something you really wanted for your son!
I should think they try and catch people out to be honest, there are sooo many who try it on nowadays, which is unfair on people who really need things, but sadly it's the way it is! Thanks for the update, it helps others too, have a nice Easter x
MickyStoker Thanks for your helpful comment, I'm glad to hear you got a new tablet for your son we've given you some bonus points as a thank you
