Depending on your circumstances then you maybe entitled to a rebate of £140 off your electricity bill.
There are 2 groups that may apply to you, the Guarantee element pension credit which is aimed at people who are getting a pension.
The other group is called the Broader group which focuses on people with low incomes and people who suffer from health problems.
I would add as well to look on your current electricity company and see if they do actually have the Warm Home discount.
If you are on a prepayment meter then not to worry you can use the rebate on the prepayment meter and also if you pay your bill in other scenarios.
Applications open on 14/10/2019
That is not fair on you at all. It's shocking how people are treated these days and discrimated against.
To be fair, most countries apply limitations to immigrants in a new country while the native population and immigrants who have been settled then they may become eligible, if need be. HelenPacker
Rockman well I was born here, 50years ago and I still struggle but I get your point. Surely there must be an alternative set into place for immigrants especially if they are poor. This freebie is for the people who are living on a very low income and the elderly and sick. I think it is brilliant!!! but do remember that all of the energy companies have a plan in place to help. Best of luck my fellow latest deal followers. ❤
HelenPacker to be honest, I pay my tax even if I do work part time self-employed but still there are lots of restrictions for me anyway I do like this country and I don't want to complain about anything. The only thing I complained that I had been teaching English literature for 12 years before moving here and here they said I cannot teach even if I have a master degree
I’ve already applied for this with eon and British gas is also taking applications so check your supplier
I have health issues and tried applying for this last year but was told that it was only available to pensioners and Northern Ireland was not included as we have no sitting parliament.
Typical! !!!!!!
I would definitely suggest contacting your MP in Northern Ireland as while Stormont is dissolved then they still have sitting MPS at Westminster or are still your MPS .
I have my gas and electric with British gas and I have successfully applied earlier this month. I advise you all to look into it and see if your energy supplier is doing the discount as it will save you money.
They change the rules each year and sees to be getting harder for everyone to get this hel.
I am in full agreement with em1911. If the rules and criteria didn't keep changing then it would be easier and better for everyone to apply for the warm home discount every single year.
Already apply beginning of September say it take up to 12 weeks to give the decision but it's great that we can get some help
does anyone know if you put in for it last year and had it will it atomatacliy renew for this year or will you have to redo what i do last year anyone know
1 tip I would suggest is tell them you are spending more than 10% of your income on energy . This establishes your technically in fuel poverty and it sometimes allows you to meet the criteria
Thanks, added link to page showing Energy Suppliers - The following suppliers are part of the scheme:
