How To Save at McDonald's, Burger King, KFC, Nando's, Starbucks & More

McDonald’s

At McDonald’s you can create your own Big Mac for less. Order a double cheeseburger, ask to remove ketchup and mustard, and replace with shredded lettuce and burger sauce. It’s almost exactly the same thing but £1.59 instead of £2.69.

Another McDonald’s trick is to keep your receipt. On it you’ll see a promotion: go online, complete a quick survey and you’ll get a code for a Big Mac and fries for £1.99 instead of £2.99. You can do this every time.

This week, everyone can get a free cheeseburger simply by downloading the McDonald’s app. Open it and you’ll see an offer for the freebie, available to collect in-store until Friday 25th January.

But if you’re a student, you can always get a free cheeseburger when you buy any Extra Value or Wrap Meal and show your valid student or Student Beans ID.

Finally, in London, keep your bus tickets. They often have vouchers printed on the back for McDonald’s. These deals often apply to ''classic'' burgers and can help you save a little more.

Burger King

Burger King has an app with which you can get discounts every time you order. Frequent deals are regular fries for just 50p, nine chicken nuggets for 99p, or a chicken royale and small fries for £2.99

Members of money saving community LatestDeals.co.uk also spotted the restaurant chain is giving buy-one-get-one-free vouchers in select stores for January 2019. You can get a free Whopper burger but the intention is to give to a friend.

The same buy-one-get-one-free deal is also available at Byron Burgers. Sign up to their newsletter to get the voucher. Skinny fries are also included in this offer.

Also, if you’re eating with your kids and want to give them a healthy option, Burger King does apple fries. They look like chips but are cut from apples.

KFC

Download the KFC app. Register for an account and after a few minutes you’ll get a free side. That can include two hot wings, regular fries or a coffee. The app also gives you a range of monthly offers including voucher codes and freebies. Plus, with every order you can get a reward stamp. Collect 15 and you get £5 off.

Domino’s

Pizza delivery firm Domino’s always has a deal or discount on. To find every Domino’s discount for all stores in the UK, bargain hunter Tom Church made this free and handy tool. Type in your postcode and it tells you all the Domino’s codes available.

Domino’s also has an app through which it displays deals available via ‘DealBot’, but it’s worth speaking to your local store on the phone to ask if they can do bigger discounts. This is because Domino’s is a franchise and every store has different deals available.

Nando’s

You can get a Nando's discount of 20% if you work in the NHS, police, fire and other emergency services, as well as the military. That's 1.3 million people in the UK.

Use a Nando’s Chilli Reward card and you can collect Chilli points. This is their reward card. Collect the reward card next time you’re in-store, register it online and then use every time you eat. If you forget to use your reward card, keep your receipt and you can still get the points by entering a code from your receipt…

This means you can also use receipts that aren’t necessarily yours. Amongst extreme bargain hunters this is called “Wombling”. Find a Nando's receipt, type in the code and you can collect the Chilli points.

The points add up to free chicken and other rewards.

Coffee Shops

Many top High Street coffee chains offer free beverages if you know the tricks.

If you’re on Three Mobile, download the Wuntu rewards app and it often has a voucher for free Costa hot beverages.

If you’re on O2 Mobile, download the O2 Priority app and you can get a free Cafe Nero hot beverage every week.

If you’re on Vodafone, download the Vodafone App and look at the VeryMe rewards. It too often has free Costa coffee.

Wetherspoons does free unlimited coffee refills from just 85p and this includes free WiFi. You can do similar at Starbucks: order a filter coffee for £1.55, use a reusable cup to get a 25p discount which makes it £1.30 and they offer free refills (at the Manager’s discretion).

Greggs does a rewards app as well which often has free coffee.

Plus if you shop at Waitrose you can bring in your own reusable cup and with every shop swipe your myWaitrose card to get a free coffee too.

Starbucks gives 10% discount to Emergency Services, NHS, Armed Forces and military veterans with a Blue Light or Defence Discount Card.

Plus, don't forget to bring your own travel cup to get up to 25p off. Caffe Nero gives you a double reward stamp too meaning you can get a free coffee after just 5 purchases.

Family Restaurants

Harvester, Frankie & Benny’s, Toby Carvery, Cafe Rouge and many other casual dining restaurants offer vouchers. Sign up to their newsletters, use websites such as Vouchercloud.com and always have a good Google search.

You can also save money with Tastecard. It’s a premium membership giving you discounts at over 6,000 restaurants across the UK. Here you can get three months for free helping you save money straight away. It even works with some Domino’s stores.

Bargain hunters of LatestDeals.co.uk also recommend using Compare The Market to get discounts on your food. Buy an insurance policy from just £1.99, and you get access to Meerkat Meals. This is a limited version of TasteCard (about 4,000 restaurants) under a different brand, but it’s free for the entire year with your insurance purchase.

Deliveroo and UberEats

Deliveroo and UberEats both offer £10 off when you order for the first time using codes that can easily be found online.

You can also get referred by a friend - who will get a complimentary discount in return.

The money will automatically be discounted from your order but beware these deals are only valid for one-time use.
