Competitions Feedback Please!
- Entry method: Website (latestdeals.co.uk)

Hey guys!
What's wrong with the competitions section of Latest Deals?
I am looking for honest feedback on how we can make it better.
The good, bad and especially ugly.
Do other sites have features that we miss?
Is there anything which attracts you to other forums, perhaps because they're easier to use?
Anything that would make it more enjoyable? Easier to manage?
Kelsey, Deepak and I are not the biggest compers and so we've created this purely based on your feedback.
Thank you very much for your support in being part of this group, it's super awesome and we just want to make it as good as possible for you.
Tom
Sometimes, links posted go to spamming or phishing sites and since those sites tend to come up again and again, it might be useful to block them from the start.
Also, while I am not concerned with earning points, I think that posting a competition should be valued much higher than someone posting a comment.
Apart from that, really happy with the layout and everything else, thank you!
Thank you very much, this is great.
We are more than happy to block spammy websites being shared.
We already have a big list, and you are more than welcome to suggest more.
Simply press the three dots next to a competition > report > select a reason of โotherโ and just explain why you think it should be banned.
Thank you also for your feedback about points, we will take this on board and review.
I agree with the comparative points. I did have someone leaping on competitions I'd posted to correct things that I had already corrected or was clearly dealing with. He got 20 points for doing that and I got 10 for the competition and it was very annoying. He seems to have stopped but it can encourage people to be a bit over zealous to the point of rudeness.
I'd rather tick a little icon saying thanks for the post, rather than keying in thanks manually.
Cool, so just as an idea, what if we changed this button to a โthanks buttonโ which automatically commented a thank you message?
Jaycee5 thank you for this feedback. Weโll look into that. In the meantime, if you want to look at a competition but donโt want it to mark as entered, you can unmark it afterwords:
Personally I think itโs good as it is now. I would find it annoying to have to press a separate button to say which comps Iโd entered and, as you say, you can always unmarked it if you need to!
I don't like the comps where you end up getting bombarded with phone calls from insurance companies etc and I just don't bother entering them.I love your site and think it's the best one
Thank you for your feedback. If there are spammy competition sites you know of, you are welcome to suggest them to be added to our naughty list:
Simply press the three dots next to a competition > report > select a reason of โotherโ and just explain why you think it should be banned.
KimberlyMeadows You could buy a cheap I'm card and use a old phone to enter these dodgy sites and just ignore the calls when they happen thats what I do, I never get hassle on my own phone but occasional spam on my comp phone
haggismuncher that's a good idea, cos there are some great prizes I just don't bother cos of the hassle after.Cheers for that
I would like to see both the name of the company promoting the comp and the actual closing date shown on the first screen detailing the comp. You have to give the date when putting the comp on so it seems logical to me to show it rather than how many days are left.
There are a couple of sections on other sites that may be worth considering,
one is competition magazines, that includes Chat, Take a break, That's life, Real People etc...
however this would require competition poster(s) to post the answers to various magazines - quite a bit of work.
The other is a seperate section for "Daily" competitions like Closer online, MCN, Win Something etc
there are a large number that have a prize run for a month or so, and you can enter daily.
others that have daily prizes.
Lastly TV Competitions, some of these are posted by Painkiller there are others on Channel 5, Channel 4 +
some satellite channels like Dave.
This is fast becoming the most user friendly & friendly site to visit. to those that post duplicates it's really easy to do,
I'm always doing it, fortunately they're spotted pretty quickly and removed. Posting competitions requires a fair bit of work and its always good to see new posters joining in.
Thanks to Tom Kelsey & Deepak for a great site, you know the numbers, recently a cash competition had over 900
entries! The same competition a few months had just over 600! You three have a great site.
Thank you for this feedback.
In regards to being able to see Daily competitions, I may be mistaken, but I think you can do this already?
It is an option when posting a competition to select โDailyโ when asked, โHow many times can you enter?โ
If you want to see competitions you can enter daily, press settings icon > change to โdailyโ
Please let me know if this doesnโt do what you asked, as I think that was the intention of it....
P.S. itโs your site too. Since the beginning, we wanted to create a site from deal hunters for deal hunters. When we started Competitions, we had @superluckyme help us, and a competition pro SteveMate guide the way. We wouldnโt know what to do without you guys telling us!
Tom I am rather frustrated now as I can't get the 1st option button to show me any categories at all. I can't screenshot either to show you. So I shall have to give up on it.
tumblespots I realise you are probably using your desktop computer or laptop, in which case it is different. When you are on latestdeals.co.uk/competitions, you should see this:
Does this help?
I agree. I would prefer the daily "clicks to win" comps in a separate section & not visible in the main competition pages.
Pocoyo007 thank you for your feedback. Please read 'How to see daily competitions' here: https://www.latestdeals.co.uk/chat/daily-competitions
Hope it helps! Let me know if "clicks to win" is different, as I'm not a big comp'er and don't know about all the different types
Tom I have been having lots of trouble even being able to reply to this - with or without graphics (that I couldn't actually do). Anyway I can't get past icon number 1 as it doesn't give me the options it shows you.
I am impressed with your layout as is, I do like the 'enter comp' button that saves you going into the page, saves time for avid compers like myself. A separate list of all the comps you have entered would be nice I suppose in your account.
I would like to be able to 'not see' the twitter & facebook comps as I don't have the facilities to do them.....
I agree. There is a list where you can delete things you don't want to see but I didn't find it really worked. I don't do twitter or Instagram and only the facebook ones where that is just where they have put a form.
Thank you for this feedback. Just to check, have you seen you can filter the competitions by entry type?
For example, you can just see website competitions, rafflecopter, email competitons etc.... and therefore, you can โnot seeโ Facebook and Twitter competitions?
Please let me know if this helps, or if you had something else as well as this in mind
Tom I am trying to take a screenshot of my screen when I press the first icon, but it isn't working when I want to paste it. All I get is the following selection. I am clearly doing something wrong but I am not a computer buff!!

tumblespots Thank you for your comment, if you are using your computer or laptop, please see below on how to change your entry method:
Jaycee5 You are right, you can only see one selection at a time, it doesn't actually 'filter them out'.
Sorry, one more thing. How about asking compers to come back to the original poster to let them know that they won the comp i.e. by searching for the 'win' and adding a comment. It's great to know that someone has won a comp that you lead them to.
Thank you for your feedback. Itโd be awesome to hear more competition success stories!
Have you seen this Chat thread where members share their freebie and competition successes?

I like the site so this isn't a moan more of a wishlist ! x would like to just click a button to let me know I've looked at the comp for those I don't want to enter rather than clicking once then clicking to go onto the site. There are a few duplicate comps so don't know if it's possible to pick up duplicate links before comps 'go live'. Other than that love this site and the comps page and thanks to the people that post the comps x
Thank you for this feedback.
In regards to ticking off competitions so you know you've looked at them... You can manually enter a competition as "entered" without going to the site.
- Press the three dots '...'
- Press 'Mark as Entered'
For duplicate competitions, we do have a system in place which automatically checks to see if that exact link has been shared before, however sometimes the same competition has different links. If this is the case, we rely on kind Comp'ers such as yourself to report it as a duplicate.
I hope this helps, please let me know if it's not what you had in mind or if you have any other suggestions.
Tom thanks for this - hadn't even noticed the three dots in the corner and will have a read now on the duplicates x
I wish you hadn't removed the name of the person whose post it is. This was a quick useful thing to note when checking the next day to see how far you needed to go back to get to yesterday's starting point.
Thank you very much for this great feedback!
Unfortunately, we discovered people with smaller mobiles were having trouble seeing all the details on the Competitions home page.
However, we have introduced a green tick mark indicating which competitions you have entered.
In theory, you should be able to start at the top and work your way back to the last green check mark:
You will need to have 'show entered competitions' on in your settings:
Does this help you? Please say if not!
Love this site! I am grateful to the regular posters and like the friendly, community feel. Thanks to all involved
A very good site but at the moment I have to sign in twice or more to get going for some reason. No doubt, you will have read the article in the the Daily Mail of today's date 21st March page 33 Money Mail re competition tricks used by big companies such as McCains, Onken and others and to avoid giving out their advertised prizes. If you spot these tricks please highlight them to help us and to shame them. Then they may stop.
Thank you for this feedback. To confirm, you're having trouble logging in to Latest Deals?
I joined just a few weeks ago and think the site is fab! Glad I stumbled across it
It's the only one I 100% trust. Great job
That's wonderful to hear, thank you ScotsChick! If you have any questions or feedback, you can always contact us.
If you're new, you may also like to read these Tips & Tricks.
What a great idea. I sometimes talk about and post photos about my wins on a freebie thread I started in the Chat area. A few of us share things here https://www.latestdeals.co.uk/chat/freebie-competition-success
Join for free and we'll automatically track the competitions you enter. And, as an added perk, you can earn Amazon vouchers for sharing competitions you find.
