27.5-inch single chainring drivetrain mountain bike, black
: 8758517
This mountain bike has a single chainring and cable-operated disc brakes that will allow you to accelerate and brake easily to adapt to the terrain.
Designed for MTB rides lasting up to 3 hours.
Seems poor to me compared to many bikes you get at Halfords. This only has 28 spoke wheels so will be less strong than the standard 32 spoke wheels most mountain bikes have. The fork looks generic, its only mechanical disc brakes and its a lower quality Microshift drivetrain. However on the positive it looks like it has a removable gear hanger which cheaper Decathlon bikes don't have. There appears to be a clutch switch on the rear derailleur and its a nice wide ratio cassette. Generally though I think you would be much better off with a Carrera mountain bike which will probably have a Suntour fork, Shimano based drivetrain and hydraulic disc brakes for similar money plus importantly be much, much stronger than this with a much higher weight rating, 32 spoke wheels and a wider diameter stanchion Suntour forks. The Decathlon bike only seems to have 28mm diameter stanchions which is very weak for a mountain bike. Those would be more typical of a hybrid bike. I'm not really a fan of Decathlon mountain bikes and this definitely hasn't changed my opinion of them. One for lighter riders who just want mountain bike style I guess.
