I had some of these, but after a discussion with an electrician learnt they can actually be more dangerous
UK sockets are really well designed, and have guards over the two bottom live connection points, which only open when something is inserted into the top hole first.
These devices open the guards then fill the live holes... if they stay in place they are safe, but if they are damaged or twisted off they *may* leave the live connection points accessible, and can therefore be more dangerous
