mazzi - the deal we were having a conversation on has been removed so I can't see your comments anymore. I promised to have a look round for you, again this might not be the cheapest, but it's great spec for the money
11th Gen i5, 8GB RAM, 256GB SSD. At just over £100 more than the laptop we 'met in the comments on', this is night and day a much better machine.
Please note this is a Chromebook - they are great for browsing the net, YouTube, Netflix, and will run many apps from Google Play store. They boot up within seconds, and generally don't slow down over time, however if you need to install any particular PC applications then this won't be ideal.
Just for context, I bought some Chromebooks for my family and really recommend them for general use.
mazzi if you want a Windows machine, this is similar spec with a bigger screen and more storage for £20 more

mazzi if you have bad eyesight and have a desk you can use then I'd recommend looking at getting a large monitor. A year or two old 1080p gaming laptop 24" - 27" when on offer can be excellent value, though you might need an adapter to put it together (I'd say stick with 1080p to save money, don't pay more for 4k as the laptops are 1080p so will match well and be good enough)
If you are going to only use it as a desktop machine, then it might even be worth looking on eBay for a second hand mini pc and getting a keyboard/mouse/monitor...
