What is Millets?

Millets is a UK-based outdoor retailer founded by J.M. Millet in 1893. It was formed by multiple companies that came together over the years to form the business people love today. The company’s story began when the founder opened a drapers and outfitters business in Southampton and Bristol before handing over the Bristol store to his Grandson, JB Spielman, in 1923. His Grandson increased the merchandise with a wider range of clothing, boots, shoes and much more which helped the business grow to five stores by 1939. While Morris Millett, another businessman who played a valuable role in the history of Millets, opened a haberdashery shop in Croydon in 1920. By 1948 the business was trading from 8 stores and A.C. Millett joined his father’s business after the leaving the army.

Unfortunately, during the war, bomb damage and stock shortages had a huge impact on the company forcing two stores to close by 1951. After the devastation the war had caused they picked themselves back up and by 1961 there were 11 shops attached to the company and by the early ‘70s Henderson Sports and Marcus Stores Limited were acquired providing them with a total of 54 units. In 1979, Foster Brothers Clothing plc took over the business which continued to grow.

It was 1986 when Foster Brothers Clothing acquired Milletts Leisure plc joining Millets and Milletts together to create Millets Leisure Limited. The outdoor retailer underwent further changes in more recent years when in 1996 it became the Outdoor Group boasting 158 stores. Blacks Leisure Group then acquired the company and in 2009 after some restructuring, the store portfolio was reduced to 208. In 2012, JD Sports Fashion plc acquired Blacks from administration. Today Millets trade 97 stores nationwide and continue to be known as the destination for camping and outdoor adventure gear on the high street.

What are the delivery options for Millets?

Standard

UK Standard Delivery is £3.99 or FREE for orders over £70! Delivery takes 5 working days.

Next Day Delivery: Order Before 6pm

Standard Next Day - Order before 6pm and receive your order tomorrow for £4.99. Available for items weighing up to 15kg and will arrive the following day to UK mainland addresses providing that the order is placed before 8pm. Deliveries will arrive between 8am and 8pm.

Delivery To Store

Delivery To Store costs only £1,or FREE when you spend over £70. Orders can be delivered to any Millets, Blacks or Ultimate Outdoors store across the UK as well as branches of JD Sports or Scotts Menswear. You can then collect your order at a time suitable for you (within 14 days).

BFPO Delivery

Delivery to BFPO destinations is FREE! Simply select Home Delivery and change United Kingdom to BFPO before entering your BFPO delivery address.

How do I return an item to Millets?

They offer a refund or exchange within 28 days of delivery or collection. Within 14 days of receiving your order you must notify them of any items you would like to return. You then have 14 days in which to return the items to them. You must complete the returns form sent to you with your order and send it back to them with the items you are returning.

Delivery charges will be refunded in full in cases where the goods are faulty. If an entire order is cancelled within the 14 day cancellation period the full purchase price together with our standard delivery charge will be refunded. If you chose to pay extra for an expedited delivery service, they will only refund the cost of standard delivery. Swimwear and Underwear cannot be exchanged or refunded except for where items are faulty.

Returns Methods

In-Store

All items purchased online or in-store can be returned to any Millets, Blacks or Ultimate Outdoors store. Just take the goods you want to return accompanied with the dispatch note or receipt and the store team will be happy to assist you. If you paid using a credit or debit card please make sure you have this with you so they can process a refund. The time banks take to process payments can vary. Allow at least 5 working days for a refund to appear in your account.

CollectPlus

Return your unwanted items via local and convenient drop off points. CollectPlus have over 4500 parcel drop points in local stores across the UK. Many have extended opening hours and are open 7 days a week, so you can return items at a time and place that suits you. They can accept parcels up to 10kg in weight and with maximum dimensions of 60x50x50cm.
