I can't get my head around how anyone could charge £180 for trainers especially when most are made in low cost countries like Bangladesh, Pakistan or China. Nike probably pay about $2 a pair at the factory they use. I normally pay about £12-25 a pair, not Nike branded of course.

BonzoBanana it huge market where they use a lot of clever marketing and hype. Many releases and popular models are exactly the same as 20 - 30 years ago, the "must have trainers" at the moment for teens are Nike Air Force 1 which was first released over 40 years ago.

If your teens or yourself are after this particular model then there's a good saving to be had here, they are still full price over on Nike

I personally shop in the outlets and usually pay between £15 - £25 for Nike/ Adidas

aeje1982 It's a ridiculous brand tax for a product that probably could be sold for a tenth of this price or much less with still a very good margin if it wasn't Nike. I saw a video on youtube which I think was Bangladesh and they were selling western designed trainers in a local market without brand I think and I think when I worked out the price doing a conversion it was like $5 a pair with some maybe as low as $3 and some maybe $6 if I remember rightly that was about 3 years ago. I mean you only have to look at trainers to see what they are made of, all low cost materials, a bit of rubber, plastic and a few fabric bits and pieces. You can buy a competent bicycle for £200. People need to be more responsible with their spending. We about £2.5 trillion of government debt and a large chunk of that you can put down to a trading inbalance.

BonzoBanana as I said it's very clever marketing.

I'm not here to dictate to people how they should spend their money I'm just bringing the savings.

People have various hobbies and interests. The sneaker market is big business and popular I personally don't think there's any need to be so judgemental, if people have earned there money they can spend it as they see fit.

There's way cheaper non branded and branded alternatives that will perform the function just as well, no one is been forced to spend ridiculous amounts.
