Since we're in PAL territory, you would have played the terrible PAL port, but enjoyed it nevertheless.
Nowadays, this isn't an issue anymore on games.
Great for my little boy. I don't want to spend £200+ on a PS console only for him to lob it across the room when he loses a game, so this is ideal 
He'll probably play for 5mins and then get bored of it because of the "ugly" graphics.
With PS5 and Xbox Series X, the price of PS4 and XO will plummet. There's also PS3 and Xbox 360 which are fantastic although a bit old by today's terms.
