When is a deal not a deal ? Prime example.
Getting Skylanders starter pack for £25 with it is a deal though. It is at least better value than standard price.
The consensus was stock alerts are a positive thing for high demand short supply new products.
Better get used to them guys, they generate revenue and are useful.
Johnny Still not a deal and this website is meant for such. The staff of LD already said that stock alerts will have their own section/feature so you're not making yourself look good.
Johnny Also, talking nonsense? Do you know what LD stands for?
Latest Deals not "Latest Stock Alerts".
That's still no excuse. I don't post games that can be hard to find because they're available again for RRP.
Johnny No. No you didn't. You came up with an excuse that the section was sleepy. That is the correct section and still searchable by Google. An excuse isn't explaining anything and certainly not a reason to put non deals in deals. Because something is not as busy as you hoped does not mean you put it in the wrong section. Deals is for deals. Not just anything that has now come back in stock. The RRP and stock posts are constant and make the entire section a joke.
Dread a tiny fraction of my posts and In fact very rarely unless it's a useful stock alert for high demand low supply new product that the LD community time and again have showed they are interested in and buy, which gains further traffic and new visitors from Google, drives email sign ups, grows the business, introduces new users to the other deals on Latest Deals, makes LD money,....
Johnny For every 1 sale you bring you send away 10. Losing the site money and hindering the growth. This is not retail it is a deal site. Things are not done to earn money on a deals site. They are done to save people money. If the site is doing its job with lots of people saving money and seeing great deals then they use the site and use it often. Creating revenue. The site earning money then becoming a by product and with lots of users buying things. You put off the people looking for good deals with constant stock alert posts and items close to RRP and gain the odd sale of something somebody was looking for. Chat is just as searchable in Google.
Dread Ditto. Most will just take a look at LD, see stock alerts and RRP prices and then think "this isn't a website about deals, it's just normal prices." So yeah, it's more of a loss than a gain.
Tom Kelsey keep on allowing this to happen and it's only going to hurt LD ever so much more.
Dread do you remember Johnny's £119 Classic Mini NES stock alert / "deal"? Who knows how much damage that did to LD.
Johnny It won't be me. Far from it. We have a pretty dead gaming section because non deals keep gettimg posted. The Switch has been posted 35 times and only been out 21 days. It definitely wont be you. It will be one of the other great posters like NemoSays who post actual deals. You make the site awful posting full priced products constantly. You are the person ruining the section. Making it a complete joke when it is meant to be good deals but it is just you doing stock checks each day. Do whatever you want there is no getting through to you.
Dread you need to look at what is actually posted and count full price versus discounted.
and what percentage of live deals are stock alerts.
Let everyone know the figures once you've done it
You won't do it because the facts tell a very different story to the fiction you are spinning.
Take a good, long look, at the gaming section Dread. Look at the first 100+ live deals. You will find about 1% of the live 'Newest' (most recent) deals are at RRP, and an even smaller percentage are Stock Alerts.
Your statement "You (Johnny) make the site awful posting full priced products constantly" clearly has zero validity.
The majority of my posts in the Gaming section are for the most popular PS4 games similar to those you post yourself.
I think there are only one or two products (out of the hundreds I've posted in the Gaming Section) where the price is at RRP. Nintendo Switch, being a 'hot' product, being the key one. The Nintendo Switch is currently being sold by retailers at RRP because demand exceeds supply. Simple as that. It doesn't mean people don't want one.
Dread Exactly.
But as with my other stock alerts for new products in high demand and short supply people still want to buy and to know where they find such hot products in stock.
Do you really think LD should not be providing its users with that information?
As you know there is currently a limited toolbox. There is zero return to be had hiding hot news stock alerts in Chat, look how quickly Chat posts get buried.
Far better within the current limitations to place stock alerts for hatchimals under Kids, and for Switch under Gaming - that way the alerts can actually be seen by potentail buyers already self filtered by selecting the relevant category providing them with the knowledge and opportunity to buy if they wish to.
Johnny It is like talking to a brick wall. We are back to the "you gain one but lose 10" comment. And also because a section isn't as busy as you like it doesn't mean you put it in the wrong section. Do whatever you want mate. The best I can describe it is your posts are like adverts begging for money not deals to save people money.
Johnny Grow up? Really?
I'm not the one posting scalper, stock alert or RRP prices as "deals" here like you and Bestoffer do. Nothing to do with being disingenuous, you just hoped no one would have said anything about any of these posts of yours. It backfired.
Johnny You're now trying to throw me under the bus? When was the last time I posted a Switch RRP "deal"? Oh that's right, it's in the past. I don't do that, you on the other hand.. well, you keep on doing.
Dread I agree the gaming section on Latest Stock Alerts, oh sorry -- Latest Deals is pretty dead with only the usual users being the ones to posts deals (or lack thereof). It's saddening because I'd really like to see LD expand and getting more users though with deals as stock alerts and RRP it will just push away newcomers who will get a bad first impression from the website.
Dread A bit strange that none of the LD staff members have interviened in this discussion as it affects the website itself. If Johnny were to make stock alert posts like these on HUKD they would go cold for sure, here, we don't have a 'cold' button (and it's a good thing 'cause a lot just abuse it) so that doesn't happen here.
P.S. I don't come on picking certain users as that pleases me, it's the fact that these are as pointed out, stock alerts and we're on a Latest Deals website.
Rockman You have posted £279.99 RRP deals for the Nintendo Switch at Base, at Nintendo, at Zavvi, and at Amazon, at least 6 times.
You asked: "When was the last time I (Rockman) posted a Switch RRP "deal"?"
Answer: Less than 3 weeks ago!
Can you say you have never posted a single deal above RRP? No. you can't. In your case you actually intended people to pay above RRP price. (In my case, as you know, I did not, and indeed I recommended on my post they did not pay above RRP).
Johnny Your statement "You (Johnny) make the site awful posting full priced products constantly" clearly has zero validity.
I told you it is like talking to a brick wall. You are being told by 2 of the 3 regular game deal posters you do make the site awful. It has every validity because you do. £42 games, £280 switches, £350 PSVR, £50-£120 NES, £70 and above Move and so on. Try and convince yourself otherwise all you want. You do make the site awful posting the same list of items constantly with stock checks and lowest price by pennies rather than good deals. That isn't to say you don't post some good deals. Sometimes you do. You post far too much crap with it though. On other deal sites with downvote buttons your non deals would be down voted to oblivion.
It was posted 3 times on HUKD last week. Getting -261, -292 and -115. Every time correctly highlighted as a bad deal. There is no down vote button here and no way to highlight your posts as bad deals.
Johnny This is not a retail or stock alert site. This is a deal site. If you feel like telling people constantly when different sites get stock it can be posted in chat. Deals is for deals. The main section is for deals. It is a deal site. For the 1000th time not a price comparison site, not a retail site, not a stock alert site a deal site. The odd person may want to buy a full priced house. This isn't the correct place for that either. You are never going to grasp it though so pointless going in circles.
Johnny Have you seen my current deals? None of them are RRP or stock alerts like yours or Bestoffer.
Dread still searchable by Google.
This is 100% true, as usual by Dread and why the Chat section shouldn't be dismissed. I've started to find Latest Deals on Google searches for specific stuff that some people could also end up searching. It works.
There's a more likely chance someone will find a Latest Deals' post via Google than via the direct Latest Deals' website.
Just 24 hours since my stock alert and 70% of the 500+ Argos stores have sold out. The Nintendo Neon is only available in 164 stores this morning. Going, going...
That doesn't mean anything. It's being advertised on other websites/social media.
Stock alerts/RRP are not deals.
