Massive ASDA 11% Price Drop on 425 Popular Products
ASDA's giving us a major win this week, slashing prices on a whopping 425 of their branded and own-label products. That means popular buys like nappies, pasta, and sausages are set to get a lot cheaper!
Eloise Hill at Retail Gazette reported that this move is part of a massive £23m investment by the supermarket giant, cutting average prices by around 11% on some of their top weekly-bought items. The big question: Why now? Asda's latest income tracker highlighted a worrying trend; families' disposable incomes are still down by over £100 a month compared to July 2021. And with the CPI inflation rate only recently letting up, it's clear many are still grappling with increasing living expenses.
Kris Comerford, Asda’s chief commercial officer, stated, “Many customers are continuing to struggle with rising living costs... we've targeted this latest price investment on the products that our customers buy week-in and week-out, to help their shopping budgets stretch further.”
It's not just talk, either. These price reductions are effective immediately in all Asda stores that stock these products, and online. And let's not forget, last month they already knocked down prices on over 200 of their own-brand items, and they've reported a nearly 10% sales boost this month as shoppers flock to their budget range.
