Not on Pension Credit but think you might be eligible?

If you don’t have Pension Credit but think you may be eligible for it, it’s worth checking.

Pension Credit tops up your retirement income

The average Pension Credit payment is over £67 per week†

You might be eligible even if you have a pension, savings or own your home

It not only allows you to claim a free TV Licence, but it can also help with:

– housing costs,

– heating bills,

– Council tax,

– NHS dental care,

– and more.

It’s easy to check if you can get Pension Credit. Just call the Department for Work and Pensions on 0800 99 1234 (opening hours 8.00am - 6.00pm) or go to gov.uk/pension-credit.

If you live in Northern Ireland, call the Northern Ireland Pension Centre on 0808 100 6165. Or go to nidirect.gov.uk/pension-credit.

Please note, TV Licensing is unable to advise on Pension Credit eligibility.

How can I buy or renew a Black And White TV Licence?

Please have your bank or card details to hand when you call. If you pay by Direct Debit, your bank or building society will automatically transfer the full licence fee once a year. This means you won’t ever have to worry about your licence expiring.

By post

At a PayPoint store

You can renew your black and white licence at a PayPoint store, simply take your reminder with you. PayPoints accept cash or most debit cards, but not credit cards. If you do not have a reminder, or you wish to buy a brand new black and white licence, you will need to call us on 0300 790 6130* to obtain an application form which you will need to take with you to a PayPoint.

Unfortunately you cannot pay for a black and white licence on our website.

If you pay by Direct Debit you can upgrade to a colour licence at any time by calling us on 0300 790 6130*. You can pay monthly, quarterly or yearly.

If you want to pay by debit or credit card and you have more than one month remaining on your black and white licence, please call us on 0300 790 6130*.

You can buy your new colour licence online by debit or credit card, if you have less than one month remaining on your black and white licence, or your black and white licence has expired. Please have your card details to hand.
