A new Co-Op Freezer Favourites meal deal is now out, and it’s quickly proving popular with bargain hunters from money-saving community LatestDeals.co.uk. Shoppers can now head into their local branch and pick up a selection of six items for just £5, helping to save on rising food prices.

A deal hunter who goes by the username Gazz3 shared the offer, revealing that the deal allows shoppers to save over £7 by grabbing this bundle, as buying the items individually would usually cost £12.25.

So what’s included in the deal? Families can tuck into Birds Eye Southern Fried Chicken Grills with mixed vegetables and Alphabites, or get some chicken burgers together before tucking into Viennetta and Carte D’or vanilla ice cream.

The deal is running until 9 August in branches across the UK, and what’s more, if you have an NUS student card you will get an additional 10% off - making the final price £4.50. Plus, you can get an extra bit of cashback if you use your Co-Op membership card, normally 5%.

Bargain hunters were quick to flock to the deal, with DarrenWorts saying: ‘What a really great selection of food - and a great price for filling the freezer!’ Holly Dobson added: ‘These deals are great, really help with prices going up.’ Chaz85 is a fan of these offers: ‘Always a great deal with Co-Op Freezer Deal.’

Shoppers immediately saw the value in the offer, with Carole Green saying: ‘Handy to have a meal deal or two in the freezer, and of course, an even better bargain for the student card holders out there.’ Lovecompos added: ‘This is really good. Provides 2 meals for 2 plus you get dessert so a great value.’

MrsMac59 pointed out: ‘I’ve never seen 2 desserts on this offer before,’ while Stuartsmith544 said: ‘Superb value and will really help people struggling at the current time.’

Tom Church, Co-Founder of LatestDeals.co.uk, said: ‘These Co-Op meal deals are always a hit with our community, and for good reason - they provide great value for money, and there’s no need to worry about preparing the food before it expires as it can all go in the freezer!

‘Normally, this deal is 5 items for £5, but Co-Op has gone a step further this time around and given all 6. I think this is probably to compete with ASDA who was one-upping them.’

‘These meals are great for hot weather when you don’t want to spend too much time cooking. You can just put the chicken grills, chicken burgers and Alphabites in the oven, and combine with some chips and veg. Then you can have a scoop of ice cream for dessert - and with two tubs available in this deal, you’re spoilt for choice. Usually the Carte D’Or ice cream costs £3.85, so you’re getting five more items for just over £1 more. That’s great value for money!’

Included in the deal:

  • Birds Eye 2 Southern Fried Chicken Grills 180g - £2.10
  • Birds Eye 4 Chicken Burgers with Golden Wholegrain 200g - £1.95
  • Birds Eye Mixed Vegetables 340g - £1
  • Birds Eye The Original Alphabites 456g - £1.55
  • Viennetta Vanilla Ice Cream Dessert 650ml - £1.80
  • Carte Dor Tub Vanilla Ice Cream 900ml - £3.85

I had Birds Eye mini waffles instead of Alphabites and Soleros instead of Carte Dor tub.

Twice I brought a £5 meal deal and got Coop substitute instead.

It's a con, as simple as that.
