A coastal retreat with tempting spa facilities and delicious dining in North Yorkshire – includes breakfast, spa access and optional dinner credit
Accommodation
Follow in the famous footsteps of Captain James Cook and Bram Stoker’s Dracula with a weekend in Whitby and you’ll see why so many have flocked to this North Yorkshire port for more than 1,000 years - set in its own 100 acres of land, Raithwaite Estate is a truly picturesque spot.
Head down the dramatic driveway to your Executive room, housed in either The Keep or The Hall, and you’ll find everything you need for a coastal escape. As things should be, the queen- or king-size beds make relaxation easy, while the soft colour scheme injects a sense of calm into the contemporary and tasteful styling. En-suites with a walk-in shower or soaking tub make for a little added luxury.
Please note that your Executive room will be based in either The Keep or The Hall; the location will be allocated upon arrival.
Amenities:
- En-suite bathroom with a bathtub or walk-in shower
- Queen- or king-size bed
- Underfloor heating
- Television
- Wi-Fi
Dining
With its woodland views and locally-sourced food, The Brasserie at Raithwaite is a celebration of Yorkshire produce and French cooking. Here, seasonally-focused ingredients are served up on elegant tables for a warm and inviting dining experience, while the private dining conservatory space and an extensive selection of old and new world wines make entertaining a cinch.
Head to Hunters Lounge for a more informal atmosphere though, with no less elegant food – the menu here is also seasonally-focused, with elevated pub fare (with international twists) taking the focus. After dinner (or before – we're not judging) head to Poachers Bar for a drink, or earlier in the day for a spot of afternoon tea.
Spa
As well as a heated pool and serene relaxation room, you'll find a generous list of treatments to indulge in – whether you're in the mood for a Mediterranean facial, skin-conditioning mud wrap or ultra-luxe champagne and truffle treatment.
If you can tear yourself away from the four treatment rooms, a Jacuzzi, steam room, sauna and gym also await. The spa opens Monday to Sunday, 7am-9pm, and has specific splash times for children, from 10am-12pm and 4-6pm.
Location
Located in between historic Whitby and the seaside village of Sandsend, this TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence winner is surrounded by impressive scenery. Charming Whitby beach lies just a 15-minute walk or three-minute drive away, with the quaint town centre just beyond.
Step back from the dramatic coastline and you’ll find the Yorkshire Moors and Yorkshire’s National Parks to explore – North York Moors National Park is only an eight-minute drive away, and you can reach Yorkshire Dales National Park in roughly two hours by car. For more ‘end of the pier’ fun, Scarborough is just a 40-minute drive away along the coast. York, Leeds and Newcastle are all within a two-hour drive.
